Ultimate Cayman Combo Excursion - Caves, Castles and Mission
Description
Wanting the best of Grand Cayman in one day? You've found it. The Ultimate Cayman Combo Excursion will take you to the Pedro St. James Castle, the Mission House, and Cayman Island's Crystal Caves. You'll finish this tour with a deep appreciation for the history, geology, and unique buildings of the island.
The Pedro St. James Castle is the oldest standing building on the island. Built in 1801 with slave labor from Jamaica, this peculiar three-story building has been transformed into a museum, where you can learn about the history of Grand Cayman via an incredible multimedia presentation before touring around the place, where you'll be able to admire the impeccably manicured lawns and a beautiful gazebo.
Your next stop will be the Mission House, a historic building that rose to prominence in the 1800s when it was used as a house for missionaries, teachers, and their families. The Mission House is now a beautiful museum that showcases original furniture and decor, as well as home to the Cayman Island's National Archive.
Your third, and last stop will take you deep into Cayman's jungle, where you'll trek through the lush tropical forest on your way to the Crystal Caves, million-year-old caves filled with incredible rock formations, which pirates used as hideouts back in the day. As you walk from cave to cave, you'll be able to see strangling balsam trees, all kinds of air plants, colorful parrots, and even large groups of bats that make the caves their homes.
